On the South Side of Chicago, a young Black dancer stands at the edge of two worlds — the classical stage that demands she erase herself, and the ancestral memory she carries in her body whether she wants to or not.
The Dark Swan is a short film about what gets buried in Black women across generations — and what it costs to dig it back up.
"I'm making this film for our daughters — so they will know that everything they are, everything they were told was too much, is exactly the right amount. And for the women before them whose names we almost lost."
